About Me I began cartooning as a teenager. I read an ad in Popular Mechanics magazine which said, "Earn Big Money Drawing Simple Cartoons." I've never earned any big money, and have found cartoons are not all that simple to draw, but I've been at it for nearly 40 years. I sold my first cartoon to Optical Journal and Review of Optometry when I was in the eighth grade. Over the years my work has been published in hundreds of places, including magazines, newspapers, trade journals, advertising materials and on websites. I also do some animation and hopes to become more proficient at it as time goes on. I have taken classes from the Screen Cartoonists Guild in North Hollywood, but for the most part am self-taught in animation. I particularly like the Macromedia Flash program and have used it for website animations. Cartooning has always been a sideline for me. I worked full time for movie studios in Los Angeles (Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Orion, Walt Disney Studios). I am now retired, although I still work at cartooning. I enjoy traveling, visiting with my grandson, and playing poker. |
